According to Euan Semple, head of knowledge management at the BBC, "People don't read documents. They want conversations. They want to connect." It's an increasingly common view that organisations need to consider doing more to develop social interaction around existing information systems.
While organisations are building more elaborate content management systems, they are failing to address the need to harness and share knowledge in meaningful ways. The information in a content management system is just the thin end of a large and largely unmanageable wedge.
