Lowering prices is generally seen as a good thing, but in the case of Companies House, the body that holds UK company information, the situation is more complex.
With its latest reduction in prices, Companies House has again raised questions about the nature of government agencies and the value of the information they hold and distribute.
It lowered prices in February, saying: "Many fees have been held at present levels or substantially reduced. Most notably, where information is accessed electronically some fees have been reduced by 50% or more."
The agency says this is good for all its customers and will ultimately encourage electronic filing ...
