Factiva is back on stream with its internal development of a reputation management solution, after acquiring a small UK-based media monitoring solutions provider, 2B Reputation Intelligence.
The company has also struck a deal with news aggregator Moreover to incorporate its headline tracking newsfeeds, which update sources every 15 minutes - a deal which points to an ongoing weakness in the regularity of updates on aggregators.
Within a week of the takeover, Factiva had absorbed the entire infrastructure of 2B - closing down its website and moving staff in London, Bulgaria and South Africa into its own offices. Factiva vice president for content, Simon Alterman, told IWR that "the speed of integration was purely a function of the size of the company involved".
2B will fill the gap of a WebFountain-based solution that Factiva had been co-developing with IBM under the Insight for Reputation banner. Late last year, the two companies parted ways after barely a year's development effort, with Factiva citing performance issues over WebFountain.
Products are expected to come to market quickly - possibly within the first half of this year. ...
