Pennsylvania governor takes heat over land sold to casino company.

Mar. 10--The controversial sale of state water rights for a plot of land along the Delaware River, now under option by a Las Vegas casino company, was launched in 2003 by House Speaker John Perzel.

But Gov. Rendell's administration took the heat yesterday for the sale, which may add up to a serious jackpot for state Sen. Michael Stack III and his family one day.

Perzel initiated the sale of water rights for the 22 acres in Fishtown, just north of Penn Treaty Park, in June 2003, after James J. Anderson asked for his help, according to Beth Williams, Perzel's spokeswoman.
