Thinking about breast augmentation or a nose job? Rather than go to your local clinic and hide from your friends until you recover, you could have the surgery on an idyllic island, spend two weeks in the sun and then credit your new, improved look to your time on the beach.

Medical tourism is a fast-growing business in Southeast Asia, where expert lower-cost surgery can be combined with an exotic vacation. With the competition intensifying, each country is playing its own trump card. Thailand is now well established as the in place for cosmetic surgery, while Malaysia claims to cater to Muslim patients and Singapore touts its mastery of the latest technologies. Travel agents have been quick to spot the potential. Tip Sheet seeks out some of Southeast Asia's most restorative holidays:
