I had the opportunity to read your article "Playing with Race" (Winter 2004-05). Thank you for writing such an interesting article, one that I found myself thinking about quite a bit. It was certainly a topic that I was not very aware of, nor thought much about, but I felt the piece presented the "players" humanistically, whereas someone else could have easily sensationalized their activities. All that said, I do have one comment. Near the end of the article, you discuss the problematic conflation of race play and race fetishes. Though you mention the example of "white men flying to Havana for morena prostitutes," you overlooked an analogous example of (predominantly white) men flying to Southeast Asia (e.g., Thailand, Vietnam) with the express purpose of patronizing the "Me Love You Long Time" ...
