* There are few things in life that make you feel more blissed out than being with a guy you really dig. But no matter how head over heels you are, you can't help but wonder if he's as hooked. Well, don't bother looking for big neon signs and over-the-top romantic gestures. What really tips you off to his commitment quotient is how he deals with the day-to-day stuff. "You may not realize it, but you can test your guy's love by observing the way he reacts to you in certain situations," says Judith Sherven, PhD, coauthor of Be Loved for Who You Really Are. Here's what to look for.
LOVE TEST 1
How He Handles a Minicrisis
Nina, 26 *, was on vacay in Thailand with her boyfriend, Rob, when her backpack was snatched. "Rob screamed at me for being so careless, and I yelled back that it wasn't my fault. I couldn't believe what a dick he was being when I was so upset," she recalls. His being anxious and angry is a perfectly understandable reaction ... as long as he gets over it quickly so you can deal with the situation together. "The telling part is in how willing he is to work with you to fix the problem," says Sherven. Luckily, Rob realized the error of his ways. "After a few moments, he gave me a hug, which defused the tension," says Nina.
So did Rob pass his love test? Yes. Because even though he had a momentary meltdown, he chilled enough to see that Nina was upset too. That showed he had her best interests at heart. "When a guy is capable of working through a crisis with you, not against you, it proves that he really cares," says Paul L. Fair, PhD, author of I'm Right. You're Wrong. Now What? "He's in it for the long term."
