See Si. It could be a hit
The new Civic Si concept (Cover, Jan. 21) is stunning, but if Honda wants to regain past glory and appeal to enthusiasts, give it awd, forced induction and an outrageous rear airfoil, and put its race engineers in a factory WRC program. I might even part with my WRX STi for it.
Craig Stafford, Lexington, Ky.
At 32, I guess I'm beyond the Si's target demographic. Honda seems to have abandoned its philosophy of keeping utility part of the package. With all the hatchbacks with similar performance, the new Si will be a tough sell for people like me who need some space with their speed.

Yes, Honda appears to be heading back in the right direction. But it's always been in the right direction overseas.
Why we never were allowed the Civic Type-R is beyond me. Had the Civic Type-R been available when I was car shopping, it would have been a hard choice between it and my WRX.
