Mar. 4--While economists expect the current account to remain in surplus for 2005, growing concerns about the country's external accounts could prompt the need for faster structural reforms to ensure medium-term sustainable growth.
Local investors were jolted earlier this week after the Bank of Thailand announced that the country posted a January trade deficit of $1.47 billion and a current account deficit of $942 million, both the largest monthly deficits since 1997.
