Mar. 3--SHANTOU, Guangdong -- Liquor tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi insists that he will move forward with the plan to list Thai Beverages Plc on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
Despite strong opposition from religious and social groups led by veteran politician Maj-Gen Chamlong Srimuang, Mr Charoen said the plan to list the giant liquor-and-beer conglomerate would move forward.
The listing plan has attracted criticism from a number of groups, who argue that allowing the company to list on the exchange would only promote alcohol consumption in Thailand.
