Titan to settle probe for $28 mil
The defense contractor agreed to pay a $13 mil fine to the Justice Dept. after pleading guilty to violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and funneling $2 mil in payments to Benin's then-incumbent president. Titan will also pay $15.5 mil in disgorgement and prejudgment interest, and hire a consultant to review its FCPA compliance, but did not admit or deny SEC allegations of an FCPA violation. Shares rose 4.5% to 17.35.
** Engineered Support Systems will split 3-for-2, with added shares distributed April 15. The military gear maker rose 1% to 55.76.
** Mine Safety Appliances earned 47 cents a share in Q4, 17% above a year ago but 9 cents below views. Sales rose 19.5% to $224.9 mil. Shares plunged 11.5% to 41.16.
