Mar. 2--The National Telecommunications Commission plans to meet with TOT Corporation and private fixed-line operators to discuss the numbering plan following renewed complaints by some operators of a number shortage.

NTC chairman Choochart Promprasit said the complaints surprised him since the country's numbering system was changed three years ago from a seven-digit to a nine-digit system that automatically created 90 million new numbers.

He said the mobile operator TA Orange had sought 2.5 million new numbers but the NTC could not allocate them due to the absence of allocation regulations.
