Mar. 2--The levy collected from sales of premium gasoline for the State Oil Fund should be raised by one baht per litre to help increase the use of gasohol 95, an alternative fuel for automobiles, according to Chakramon Phasukvanich, the permanent secretary for the Industry Ministry.
Mr Chakramon made the proposal to the Ethanol Development Committee in response to complaints by oil companies that they were losing money on gasohol 95 sales due to low usage by motorists.
Mr Chakramon said the higher levy on 95 octane gasoline would widen the price spread, currently 1.50 baht a litre, between the premium petrol and gasohol 95.
