Mar. 1--Vinythai Plc, the third largest vinyl producer in Southeast Asia, announced yesterday that its board had approved the doubling of chlorine and ethylene dichloride (EDC) production at its plant in Map Ta Phut, Rayong, according to vice-president Santisuk Sanguanruang.
The expansion project, which is based on the latest bipolar membrane technology, is estimated to cost about 2.3 billion baht.
The plan to double chlorine and EDC production was aimed at fully integrating Vinythai's upstream production, a move which could help strengthen its cost effectiveness to ensure continued profitability in a competitive market.
