As changes to the quality framework are considered, Edward Davies finds out what GPs really want.

The ink is barely dry on the new GMS contract and the quality framework is being reviewed, if not by the GPC, then certainly by the rest of the profession. Representatives involved in the formal review are already being inundated with submissions and suggestions.

'We haven't actually asked for anything yet,' said GPC negotiator and review representative Dr Mary Church. 'But the bandwagon has certainly started. We are already receiving e-mails about a number of things.'

A range of conditions have been highlighted. Most recently, the publication of part two of the NSF for renal services prompted a number of experts to call for the inclusion of kidney disease (GP, 11 February) in the clinical framework.
