It can be argued with some degree of certainty that nobody in American racing has enjoyed greater success this millennium than Frank Kimmel. He has won 39 of 111 starts and collected five straight ARCA titles since 2000. He has 84 top-five finishes and 91 top-10s, and has led during 86 of those 111 starts. So who is going to keep him from his seventh title this year?
Most likely, nobody. Brent Sherman, second in last year's points, has left ARCA for NASCAR and its second-tier Busch Series. Third-ranked T.J. Bell was last year's rookie of the year, but he has never won an ARCA race. Billy Venturini (15 career wins) and Jason Jarrett (one) completed last year's top-five in points, but neither has shown enough consistency to outpoint Kimmel over a full season. Three-time champion Tim Steele and new crew chief Lee Leslie (he wrenched for Sherman last year) are capable, but Steele hasn't been close to ARCA for several years. He has some serious catching up to do before he challenges Kimmel.
