New York - For a brochure underscoring MCI Communications Corp.'s new global strategy, Pentagram Design chose the Mac for design, illustrations and pre-press production.
"We couldn't illustrate the brochure photographically, since the facilities didn't yet exist," said Peter Harrison, a partner in the award-winning British and American design firm. "More importantly, the digital-looking computer illustrations help portray the style of equipment MCI is promoting."
The technology used to produce the brochure also represents the 20-year-old design firm's commitment to the electronic tools that are replacing traditional methods of working.
Harrison sent a mock-up of collaged, photocopied images to San Francisco-based artist John Hersey. The idea was to include an iconographic image representing each facet of MCI's planned global expansion.
