Dear AMEWS members,

Greetings from Paris. I trust you all have had a restful summer and are now settled into another productive academic year. As we finalize our preparations for the annual MESA meetings, in San Francisco on 20-23 November, I would like to share with you details of our planned presence at the conference.

Our presence at MESA.

AMEWS has organized special sessions, a roundtable, and panels, to be held on all four days of the conference.

Launching of The Journal of Middle East.

Women's Studies. The Publications Committee has finalized an agreement with Indiana University Press for the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies (JMEWS). Sondra Hale deserves accolades for pursuing this matter with such dedication and professionalism. The new editors are Marcia Inhorn and Mary Layoun, who have worked hard to obtain their respective universities' endorsement and support. The inaugural issue is being prepared by Marcia Inhorn and her assistant Alissa.
