Among the vintage items at the upcoming Amelia Island Concours will be photos taken by Californian Allen Kuhn.
In 1955, when Kuhn was too young to drive, he got a ride from his mom to the sports car races at Torrey Pines and started shooting pictures. He didn't stop shooting for 10 years.
He finally stopped when he got married, bought a house and because, he says, "The cars were changing quite a bit. I like the old style, the Scaglietti bodies, the Scarab and cars like that.''
Kuhn stopped shooting, but he kept all his negatives, which he estimates number about 5000. They sat in a sealed Kodak box on a shelf in his garage for 33 years. In addition to family obligations, Kuhn worked for the next three decades at Hughes Aircraft in the satellite division.
