A 37-year-old Albuquerque woman sobbed into her son's embrace shortly after learning that after months of doubt, disparagement and torment a jury believed her story that she had been raped by Albuquerque police Officer Christopher Chase.
The jury believed her to the tune of nearly $1 million.
Jurors deliberated three hours Friday before finding in favor of the woman, agreeing that Chase was liable for her assault, battery, false imprisonment and loss of due process rights during an alleged Feb. 19, 2002, rape in the back seat of a squad car behind a restaurant.
