1 NAFTA was a raging success; the FTAA will simply be more of a good thing. The facts tell a different story. "NAFTA has displaced American workers and devastated entire towns," noted the Christian Science Monitor in a 10th anniversary assessment of the trade pact's impact. "[Its effects are] evident from the job-training centers in southern Texas to the 'NAFTA ghost towns' of North Carolina, with their shuttered textile plants."
