The United Steelworkers of America (USWA; Pittsburgh) and the Paper, Allied Industrial, Chemical, and Energy Workers International Union (PACE; Nashville) say their respective boards have voted to approve a merger of the two unions. The combination will create the largest industrial union in North America, with over 850,000 active members in over 8,000 bargaining units in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.
