Factory Shops a big boost to Douglas County's retail sales. (Castle Rock Factory Shops) (Metro Market Report)

Douglas County's largest-ever retail project, a factory outlet mall at the north end of Castle Rock, will have almost as many shoppers in a single day as the town has residents.

The 181,000-square-foot Castle Rock Factory Shops, which will feature 50 stores when the first phase opens Nov. 20, is projected to bring between 7,000 and 8,000 shoppers daily into the quiet hamlet of about 11,000 residents, midway between Denver and Colorado Springs.

Around Christmas, said Castle Rock attorney Bob Slentz, "You may have more shoppers than people who live in this town. This is the largest commercial project ever to hit Douglas County."
