Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, is a city on the rise, with construction going on at a breakneck pace. In this oil-rich metropolis where Mercedes-Benz S-Classes are as abundant as Toyota Camry taxicabs, growth is the constant.
Like Dubai, Yokohama Tire Co. is in the midst of massive growth, which we suppose is one reason the Japanese tiremaker went to the trouble of launching its new flagship Advan tires there. Or maybe it was the availability of the newly minted, FIA-sanctioned Dubai Autodrome circuit. Either way, we were more than happy to lay down some fresh rubber testing new Yokohamas mounted on Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes SL500 testers.
The Advan Sport and S.T. tires go on sale this year. Sport is a car tire, available in 66 sizes ranging from 205/55ZR-17 to 295/25ZR-22. The S.T., designed for aggressive sport/utilities like the Cayenne and BMW X5, will have 30 sizes from 225/55R-17 to the truly hip-hop-able 305/35R-24.
