John's Island, SC, gained its first library, a branch of the Charleston County Public Library, which had its grand opening on October 26. Located near Charleston, SC, the sea island library serves resort areas Kiawah and Seabrook and neighboring Wadmalaw, with a total population of 26,000. Residents--including longtime islanders and new retirees--have been asking for a library for years.
