PKN Orlen to discuss Unipetrol purchase in Brussels next week.

WARSAW, Feb 4 (CTK) - Reps of Polish petrochemical giant PKN Orlen will meet with EU officials in Brussels on Friday, February 11, to

discuss the purchase of Czech holding Unipetrol, PKN Orlen spokesman Dawid Piekarz told CTK today.

EC approval is the last obstacle to the completion of the transaction.

The EC has to assess whether a monopoly will not be created by PKN Orlen merger with rival Unipetrol. No specific date has yet been set for the EC to decide, Piekarz said.

According to earlier statements of PKN Orlen reps, Brussels should decide in 25 days after the date when the formal application is filed. …
