First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and Zenith Bank Plc are the first, second and third most profitable banks respectively in Nigeria.

This assessment is based on their profit after tax in 2004, the latest annual benchmarking & performance analysis conducted by Organisation & Productivity Consultants Ltd.

Assurance Bank Nigeria Ltd, Standard Trust Bank Plc and NAL Plc also led the banking industry in terms of growth in PAT last year with 1,805,424 per cent or N1.8 billion, 1,606,865 per cent or N1.6 billion and 1,366,154 per cent or N1.36 billion increases respectively. …
