Feb. 4--PHUKET -- Orient Thai Airlines has resumed its scheduled direct flights from Hong Kong and South Korea to this southern resort island, suspended right after the devastating tsunami hit six Andaman coastal provinces on Dec 26, in a strategy to turn a crisis into an opportunity.
The privately-owned Thai carrier is the first airline among those that terminated their regular services, due to the dramatic plunge in visitor arrivals to Phuket in the aftermath of the deadly waves, to put flights to this island back on its timetable.
