Feb. 4--Customs officials yesterday signed up 84 more companies to its anti-corruption drive, bringing the total number of participants to 293.
The companies each pledge to not offer bribes to customs officials to facilitate clearance procedures, and is part of the Customs Department's ongoing battle against corruption at the agency.
But despite the campaign, initiatives to improve internal controls and even the installation of closed-circuit cameras to monitor officials, bribery and corruption continues at clearance points.
