Feb. 4--McPHERSON -- It's almost heaven.
Out of more than 600 counties considered in a Progressive Farmer magazine poll, McPherson County was determined to be the nation's third-best place to live in rural America.
"We're excited about it," said Jennifer Burch, executive director of the McPherson Area Chamber of Commerce. "Of course, we feel we're number one, but we're happy with number three."
The top spot went to Fauquier County, Va., based on its fertile farms, wineries and nearness to the Blue Ridge Mountains, according to the story in Progressive Farmer's February issue.
