3 Got a project you've been putting off? Delaying a job often takes more energy than actually doing the task, says motivational coach Brian Tracy.
You waste countless hours thinking about a project, and have nothing to show for it, he notes in "Time Power."
To tackle a task head on:
** Think on paper. "List every step of the job in advance," Tracy urged. Gather needed materials. "Make sure you have everything at hand." This puts you one step closer to getting started.
** Identify the limiting factor. "What part of the task is the bottleneck that sets the speed for everything else?" Tracy asked. Pinpoint that step and make it your top priority. With that out of the way, the rest of the project will flow more easily.
** Commit to it. Start the project within a given time frame -- say, 24 hours.
