1The Web search giant's revenue doubled to $1.032 bil. Ex traffic acquisition costs, revenue was $654 mil vs. views for $591 mil. Pro forma profit was 92 cents a share, most analysts said, vs. views for 77 cents. An upbeat Google cited strong advertising and traffic growth. The firm doesn't give guidance. Iraqi: Don't Force Troops Out Yet
2President Ghazi al-Yawer said asking foreign troops to leave in "this vacuum of power" would be "complete nonsense," though perhaps some could go by year-end. Iraq lifted some vote-related security curbs. The ballot count entered stage 2. A Shiite cleric-backed alliance is seen in the lead but without the votes to push through a political agenda or name a prime minister by itself.
Stocks Rise As Volume Picks Up
3 The Nasdaq climbed 0.3% and S&P 500 0.7%. The Dow rose 0.6% as American Express jumped 6% on a spinoff. The small-cap S&P 600 gained 0.8%. Volume rose across the board.
