The Yak is thankful for November. It's a month when we have our elections, our national holiday of Thanksgiving and prepare for the holidays coming up.
It's also the start of big contests that fill the Yak's mailbag. You can read about our yearly "A Winter's Tale" story contest on Page 3 and our annual snow prediction contest on Page 6, and we'll tell you about our Favorite Book Character Contest right here.
Do you have a favorite character in a book you're reading now--or maybe read when you were younger? Draw us a picture of that character and tell us why that character is important to you. That's the idea behind our NIE-Yak's Corner Contest. The contest is for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
