2 When was the last time you sat down with a pair of scissors and a stack of magazines to make a collage? Chances are you were a lot younger than you are now, maybe in a classroom, peering out the window at rain-slicked streets as you passed an afternoon.
Whatever your age, though, collages can help you achieve your true dreams and goals by bringing your hopes into vivid color.
In feng shui, a Chinese philosophy that uses the placement of objects to shape thoughts and actions, practitioners have long encouraged "goal collages" to help people see, touch and feel what they'd like to make happen.
"Human beings are just such tremendously visual creatures," said Julie Anna Alvarez, an attorney who now practices and lectures on feng shui. "I find goal collages are a big help to people who have trouble visualizing the results they want or who have very little time to devote to focusing on their futures."
Goal collages are also useful for teams because they help folks sink their teeth into an unmistakable common goal.
"Having a goal collage allows us to see what we want our future to look like, and measure the progress we are making toward that vision," said Leslie Ungar, an executive coach who uses goal collages in her work.
