Ryanair profits dip, shares soar

The European discount airline's Q3 profit dropped 16% to $44.96 mil, despite a 15% rise in revenue to $383.74 mil and a 13% rise in passenger volume to 6.9 mil. The result was better than expected, and the company raised its full-year guidance. Shares jumped 8.5% to 46.83.

** US Airways Group lost $4.30 a share in Q4, more than twice its year-ago loss. Revenue fell 7% to $1.47 bil.

** United Airlines pilots and flight attendants ratified new contracts cutting their wages by 11.8% and 9.5%, respectively. The mechanics' union rejected a deal 3 days earlier.
