Mosaic Co. was officially launched on 25 October 2004, becoming the newest Fortune 500-sized company on the New York Stock Exchange. CEO Fritz Corrigan declared that its goal was to "plan to harvest cost synergies, reduce phosphate mining and processing costs, reduce working capital, pay down debt and earn the right to grow."

Mosaic is led by a senior leadership team (SLT) drawn from the management groups of Cargill, IMC Global and other companies. In addition to Fritz Corrigan, SLT members include: James T.
