Australian players are desperate to break the 10-year drought in major golf success, according to Stuart Appleby.
The last Australian to triumph at one of the grand slam events was Steve Elkington at the US PGA in 1995.
Before that it was Greg Norman, who won the 1993 British Open.
Appleby, who made a sizzling start to the year with his second straight win in the Mercedes Championship in Hawaii this month, said there was no better time for an Australian to seize a major.
''Ultimately we all want to win majors, there's no doubt about it,'' he said. ''It's been a long time since an Australian has.
''It's not on my mind to an extent where it's driving me crazy but it's on all of our minds to think, 'let's crack it, let's do it and let's get this ball rolling'.
