Darren Beadman will be back in the saddle fit and well for his important assignment aboard Spikes in the Whatton Manor Hcp (1200m) at Warwick Farm today.
The champion jockey was forced to miss rides at Randwick on Saturday after being dumped by My Chinese King on the way to the start of the Expressway Stakes.
''I hurt my thumb and one of my toes was bruised but I'm fine now,'' Beadman said.
Expectations were high for the younger brother to Lonhro and Niello when he made his debut at Canterbury on October 28. Although he didn't win, he showed enough with his flashing second after getting a long way back early, to say that he had inherited much of the family talent. Beadman said there were a few excuses for Spikes.
''It was a night meeting, it was the last race on the program and that's hard for a young horse having his first start,'' he said.
''I rode him in a trial a couple of weeks ago and I was very happy with him.
