FOR SIOT Tanquingcen, the short rest Barangay Ginebra had before plunging into the PBA Philippine Cup Finals and Jayjay Helterbrand's injury had little bearing on the Kings' Game 1 defeat against Talk 'N Text Sunday.
The culprit, Tanquingcen pointed out, was the spate of turnovers the Kings committed.
"The team outplayed us. I'm offering no excuses except that we lost the game because of the turnovers we made," said Tanquingcen after the Kings were routed by the Phone Pals, 89-71, Sunday night in the opener of the best-of-seven Finals.
Ginebra gave up 18 points from their total turnover of 24 and the winning margin of Talk 'N Text was 18 points.
Interestingly, the Kings ruled the boards, pulling down 49 rebounds, 18 of them offensive as against the Phone Pals' 42.
