Niger gets Global Fund grant to fight malaria.

Niamey, Niger (PANA) - Niger has received more than one million US dollars from the Global Fund against AIDS, TB and Malaria, Public Health Minister Ari Ibrahim announced Saturday in Niamey.

The grant would be used to implement the national strategic plan against malaria, Ibrahima told a meeting on the revision of malaria treatment and prevention policy.

Following a resistant strain observed in 1987, to chloroquine, a drug for the treatment of malaria, Niger has opted for the gradual introduction of therapeutic combination of anti-malaria medicines recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) …
