Feb. 1--PHUKET -- Delegates from 40 countries meeting under the banner of the World Tourism Organisation yesterday adopted an action plan aimed at reviving the tourism industry in tsunami-affected countries by March or April.

Five international organisations, including the International Finance Corp, the investment arm of the World Bank, yesterday pledged more than US$3.9 million to help finance the "Phuket Action Plan".

The plan calls for a global marketing campaign and co-ordinated communications strategy to help rebuild confidence among travellers, along with special assistance for small tourism-related ...
