Feb. 1--Private investment showed steady growth in 2004, with the trade and current accounts both exceeding expectations, according to the Bank of Thailand.
Suchada Kirakul, senior director for the central bank's Domestic Economy Department, said private investment grew an average of 12.9 percent for 2004, compared with 13.9 percent growth in 2003.
Private investment in December, however, slowed from previous months, in part due to the high base in the previous year.
Mrs Suchada said the fact that capacity utilisation averaged 70 percent in 2004 showed that growth momentum for investment remained steady.
