Feb. 1--The Government Savings Bank expects new lending to be worth 105 billion baht in 2005, an increase of 17 percent from the end of last year.
The new loan target includes loans to large government programmes such as the village investment funds and the People's Bank microfinance project. Last year the bank extended 104 billion baht in loans.
Goanpot Asvinvichit, the GSB director-general, said the bank planned to lend 50-60 billion baht alone to newly established village banks nationwide this year.
