Feb. 1--Owners of defective automobiles will soon be able to return them to the manufacturer for a refund or replacement under a new law, according to Industry Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal.
The new consumer protection legislation will cover cases in which serious defects remain after four or more repair attempts by the manufacturer or its agents within one year or 12,000 kilometres after purchase, he said.
An arbitration committee, set up to scrutinise automobile quality to protect the rights of vehicle buyers, will be put in place temporarily until the new law drafted by the Industry Ministry has been promulgated ...
