Paul Reiser, who was in Sarasota this weekend to screen his charming new film, "The Thing About My Folks," is producing a Showtime movie about a Sarasota resident -- comedian Dick Smothers.
Actually, the movie will be about Tom and Dick Smothers and their popular and controversial 1960s series, "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour."
"It focuses on the censorship battles that the Smothers Brothers had with CBS," said Reiser, an opening-night guest at the Sarasota Film Festival. "I think with what's going on now, that's such a relevant subject."
Reiser describes the movie as "sort of a documentary."
