MANILA, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Philippine and American forces on Monday kicked off another round of joint training exercises in the northern Philippine provinces of Nueva Ecija and Pampanga, the first of several activities lined up this year.
Dubbed "Balance Piston 05-1," the exercise opened in Fort Magsaysay in Laur, Nueva Ecija and at the Clark Air Base in Angeles City in Pampanga, military information chief Lt. Col. Buenaventura Pascual said.
Brig. Gen. Benito Ramos, deputy commander of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) opened the proceedings in Fort Magsaysay, Pascual added.
The exercises would be held in two phases simultaneously and involve participants from the First Scout Ranger Regiment and the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) composed of 77 personnel.
Also included in the training exercise are seven members of the 19th US Special Forces Group.
