CANBERRA, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Australia's trade deficit with the rest of the world hit $A2.4 billion ($US1.86 billion) in December, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said today.
The deficit was down almost $A300 million ($US232.32 million) on the hefty November deficit, but was still above market expectations.
Exports of goods and services were up one per cent or $A151 million ($US116.93 million) to $A13.1 billion ($US10.14 billion).
Non-rural and other goods exports rose three per cent while exports of rural goods fell three per cent, or $A57 million ($US44.14 million).
Service exports dropped $A11 million ($US8.52 million).
Imports of goods and services fell one per cent to $A15.4 billion ($US11.93 billion), with two per cent falls in imports of intermediate and other goods and capital goods.
Imports of consumption goods fell one per cent while services imports rose one per cent.
