THE STAR:
- Pulp and paper producer Lion Forest Industries Bhd (Lion FIB) has proposed to acquire Silverstone Bhd, which manufactures tyres. Both LionFIB and Silverstone are members of the Lion group.
- United Engineers (M) Bhd (UEM) has emerged as lead member, with 65% stake, in a Malaysian consortium that is said to be the front-runner for the US$1.2bil monorail project in Dubai.
- AMMB Holdings wants to buy all the remaining shares of Singapore's Fraser Securities as part of plans to expand its stockbroking businesses abroad.
- DRB-HICOM Bhd has announced the termination of the distributorship agreement between its 70% subsidiary, Scott and English Electronics Sdn Bhd (SEE), and South Korea-based LG Electronics Inc (LGE).
- Super auto retailer Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON) said its top dealers managed to achieve sales of RM45mil in genuine Proton parts for 2004.
