VICTORIA, BC, Jan. 31 /CNW-AsiaNet/ - In an effort to show their continued support and tell Canada's hard working IRB 7s how proud they really are to sponsor them, Custom House had the whole team over for dessert this weekend at the Taylor's home (Ian Taylor and family) in Victoria. The IRB 7s have wrapped up practice sessions at the Shawnigan Lake training site on their way to the next leg of the tour to Wellington, NZ, followed by Los Angeles.
Rick Farrally, the team's manager said, "The team travels 85,330 kilometres to complete the international IRB 7s tour. For this leg they'll cross the Pacific Ocean twice. On their way to Wellington, the team will travel by ferry to Vancouver, then fly to LA, transfer and fly on to Wellington. They'll arrive after 18 hours. When we played South Africa where we made the finals the trip was 44 hours and 20 minutes getting home."
Shawn Thompson, the most capped player in the world with 50 caps, travels 28,980 kilometres every time the team plays the IRB 7s tour just for practices because he lives in Montreal and the hub for the team is on Vancouver Island.
"That's dedication," said Ian Taylor, Custom House's SVP of Global Sales & Marketing. "They do it because of the love of the game and we want to help raise their profile."
