TAIPEI, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Taiwan's consumer confidence index (CCI) fell by 1.28 points to 75.85 points for January from the previous month's level, with the confidence indicator in the local job market posting the largest drop, according to a report released Monday.

According to Chu Yun-peng, director of the economic development center under the National Central University (NCU), which carried out the survey, public confidence in the country's job market for the coming six-month period was eroded in particular, representing a drop of 5.65 points month to month to stand at 84.05 points.

The decline marks a contrast to statistics made public recently by the Cabinet-level Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics that show that Taiwan's jobless rate has improved, Chu noted.
